Dashboards nobody opens
A Metacenta review checks this under the rule Dashboards are opened by somebody. Everything below applies whether or not you ever commission one.
What this rule checks
Using a usage export from Looker, Power BI or Tableau, this rule flags dashboards with no views in the window the export covers. It needs at least 30 days; over a shorter window it declines rather than guessing.
Why it matters
Every change upstream has to keep an unused dashboard working, and it may still run queries when it refreshes. It also makes the list of dashboards longer for the people looking for the right one.
How to fix it
Archive the dashboards nobody opens. Check whether the dashboard is sent by a schedule, such as an emailed PDF, which is read without being opened. If it is not, archive it, and delete it once nobody asks for it back.
When it is fine to leave
A quarterly board pack or an annual audit view can go unopened for longer than the export covers. So can a dashboard delivered by a schedule. Tell us which ones, and they come out of your report.
What we need to check it
A usage export with one row per dashboard: its id, its view count and the window in days. We name each dashboard by your tool's own id, never its title. An export that names people, by column or by email address, is refused whole.
